Chapter Title: Clash of Command
While investigating the mysterious disappearance of Commander Bill Quest, Commander Nigel Hunt and Captain Buck Finn begin to disagree about the importance of the search. Captain Finn believes that the exploration team needs the experience of Commander Quest, whereas Commander Hunt believes they should continue their primary mission; locating resources that would feed a starving Earth. Commander Hunt decides to approach Lieutenant Cory, who was second in command of the Manta Hawks, and orders him to transfer overall leadership to the Manta Wolves. Before a decision can be made, however, Commander Quest re-emerges from the swamp on foot.
Once Commander Quest has regained his breath, he explains that while under the swamp, an unseen force removed the cockpit cover and encased his body in a bubble. He was not alone, however, as Major Leon Vex was also in the same plight. Suddenly, the mysterious figure re-appeared underneath the water. With their lives in balance, the mysterious figure explains that he is the guardian and spirit of the people who once inhabited the planet. Major Vex tries to convince the Guardian that Commander Quest and his men have come to loot the planet of its resources. In protest, Commander Quest tells the Guardian that their real aim is to find a suitable world to colonies. Furthermore, if they do choose the planet, they’ll bring it to life once again. Unsure of whom is telling the truth, the Guardian decides he will make a decision on their future actions. If he approves, the planet will be theirs. If he disapproves, however, the guardian will destroy them. Gradually, the Guardians spirit begins to disappear and their bubbles drifted apart to the waters surface. On the Surface, the Commander Finn is unsure why Major Vex would want the Manta Force destroyed, but they must stop him from succeeding at all costs; otherwise Earth is doomed.
Meanwhile, on the otherside of the swamp, Major Vex has found his men. He explains that they must convince the Guardian that the Manta Force mean harm to the world, in-order to have the power to return to earth as its conquerors.
